Liberty

I wrote this a while ago and after reading it again I wanted to share, because it is so powerful to me.

“drop your chains
sons and daughters
come and live in liberty.

The Son has set you free…”

As I’m teaching about the Revolutionary War, this verse from the song really stuck out to me. Here we have a war that lasts 8 years to fight for freedom and liberty. Around 25,000 people die, not including the British/ Loyalists (or Hessians). It’s their amazing bravery that gives us our freedom today.

Even more amazing… Jesus did this in one week. One man. One cross. Ultimate freedom and liberty. Wow.
